There's still time to order school supplies.
The second grade moving up ceremony will be relocated to the front of Godwin school. Families can stand on the sidewalk and in the street in front of Godwin school. Cars will not be able to drive on the road in front of E. Center St. between 11:15 and 12 o'clock.
The second grade moving up ceremony is still on for tomorrow on the HighlandField. The ceremony takes about 30 minutes. Students will come out at 11:30. Families are welcome to come earlier, but considering the heat I wanted to give you the start time.
Friday, June 20 is a 12:30 dismissal.
Today is Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. It is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19th, the date in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the freedom of enslaved people, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Attention parents: parking will be limited at dismissal due to the kindergarten welcome party. Be prepared to park a few blocks away. Thank you.
